Every now and then I discover a new café and my hope for finding the perfect Café Latte light up again. Now this particular café is not so much a discovery, recently open with a view over Centro Plaza El Quintal is located in the middle of Metepec.
I was pleasantly surprised by the easy going atmosphere, friendly staff and the inviting feeling.
Come in, stay for a minute, stay for the day. Please, sit down, have a coffee, have two.
With a modern, spartan interior and fun details it is a great place for friends and loved ones to meet and play a relaxed game of jenka or sharpen your brain with chess. Or why not bring your laptop and round off your working day with a cup of coffee while sending those last mails.
El Quintal is more than just a café, they aim to be a cultural forum where interested individuals and groups can hold presentations and different cultural events; art exhibitions, music and workshops.
With the philosophy, “a pleasant space for our clients, a haven for those who like good coffee, culture, exchange of information and good music,“ they have sat the bar high, but I think it will be a success.
So what about the coffee?
Well, the bean they serve is good, but the Café Latte is what I expect, made with to much foam. It is good, but it is a Cappuccino without the cinnamon (or chocolate powder as a real Cappuccino should be served with), not a Café Latte. They do however have a Café con leche on the menu that it pretty close to what I am looking for.
This is the second time I see a sign like this in Mexico.
I will never find the perfect Latte on this side of the Atlantic.
One thing that definitely placed El Quintal on my map is their chocolate pralines. These were amazing, one bite and I was caught. They are filled with real spices, no “almost like” chemical substance or essence. A chocolate chilli is actually filled with chilli.
Coffee, chocolate and nice company – What more can you ask for an afternoon?
